Nicole Kidman used her first Emmy win as a platform to raise awareness of domestic violence.
Kidman, who lives in Nashville with husband Keith Urban, won lead actress in a limited series or movie for her portrayal of Celeste, a mother of two enduring an abusive relationship, in HBO’s miniseries “Big Little Lies.”

During her acceptance speech at Sunday night’s 69th Emmy Awards, Kidman talked about the sacrifice her family — young daughters Sunday and Faith and husband Urban — had to make for her to film “Big Little Lies.” She said she wants her children to look at the Emmy statue on their shelf and know that every time “Mama didn’t put me to bed, (it’s) because of this.”
